What the Brits need is tougher Speech Hate laws (note: NOT Hate Speech). That is laws designed to put in prison anyone who has an irrational hatred of someone else’s speech.

Of course, that would presume that the Brits give a shit about free speech.

Everyone says they care about free speech of course, EXCEPT for the people they happen to dislike. THOSE people are beyond the pale and OBVIOUSLY don’t deserve free speech.

Actually, I think this should be the basis for a test that everyone should have to take before they are allowed to vote. A questionaire should be given to each prospective voter on which such questions such as, “who, if anyone, would you prevent from speaking their mind.” If they answer anything other than “no one,” they shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

Oh well, this sort of crap is coming to the US soon. We already have “Hate Crime” laws. It’s just a matter of time. We will still have a First Amendment of course. We will be told endlessly how lucky we are because we have such incredible freedom. But like the former Soviet Union, our great freedoms will be largely a fiction written on paper but enforced by no one.
