Please, please, wont you let me convict you of SOMETHING?

Much as been made of the fact that rape charges have been dropped against the Duke Lacrosse players, but they aren’t out of the woods yet. The remaining charges are still serious. If this were a sane planet, I might contend that this was just a prelude to ultimately dropping of all charges, but I don’t live in a sane world, I live on Bizzarro World. On Bizzarro World, facts, logic, reason and other things like evidence and truth are minor insignificant details.

What matters is that white liberals need a sacrifice for their alter, so stop squirming around dammit!

This case was made in the fevered imagination of white liberals who so desperately want to feel self-righteous about something. They SO wanted these guys to be guilty of rape. After all, they are already guilty of being “privileged white guys.” It’s a small step from there to add on comparatively minor crimes like rape.

The reluctant dropping of the rape charges against the lacrosse players will actually help Nifong because it will give everyone the false impression that the issue has been resolved and take some of the heat off of him. In the end, he just wants a conviction, any conviction. His victims are already guilty of being white, but they don’t actually have a statute for that (YET) so he is having to plea bargain the case down to something that will vindicate him and his twisted moral paradigm while not causing the victims to resist so much that they actully get away.
