Longshanks: ‘”I shall offer a truce and buy him off. But who will go to
him? Not I, huh, if I fell under the sword of that murderer that might
be my head in a basket. And not my gentle son. The mere sight of him
would only encourage the enemy to take over the whole country. So
who do I send? Whom do I send?”
Edward I, from the movie ‘Braveheart.’
I often think of that quote whenever I consider Vladimir Putin in the same room with our President. Hell, ANY “leader” in the West for that matter. What must a man like Putin think when he is confronted by such pathetic, feckless, cowardly, idiots? Frankly it chills me. Putin, by contrast with Bush, et al, is an intelligent, steely-eyed, straight shooter who is a man’s man. A judo master, and former KGB officer, he is strong in both mind and body. Also, by contrast, he is absolutely adored by his people who voted for his party to the tune of 63%. As a result Putin and his party, “United Russia” have an absolute mandate from the Russian people; also in contrast to our “leaders” who are mostly the LESSER of some evil that was presented to an alienated and disaffected public.
Bush is a pathetic and weak man. Can you imagine Bush in a street fight? Imagine him lost in a jungle or a desert? Imagine if he were a POW (assuming he couldn’t get out of the war the way he did Vietnam). Does anyone really believe that Bush would “man up” and do what is necessary? More likely he’d dissolve into a puddle of decrepitude.
There is nothing more dangerous than a weak man with power, and Bush has more power than any other single man on the planet. That makes him the most dangerous man on the planet. Putin, a clear eyed realist, must know this and that is scary because Putin is the second most dangerous man on the planet, and not just because he commands 10,000 nukes, but because he is the opposite of Bush: Smart and strong minded.
None of this is to say that I don’t find fault with Putin. I absolutely disagree with him on several important points, not the least of which is his nationalization of oil and other state industries and his prosecution of various breakaway states, most notably chechnya. All of that is small beans though, since Putin is not a communist, and not corrupt. Hard yes, corrupt and evil, no. If you want to understand Putin, you have to only understand this: He CARES about his country.
Here in the West, rushing toward a “New World Order” as we are, nationalistic leaders who actually CARE about their own country must seem terribly quaint, if not downright gauche. But what I wouldn’t give to have a President, of ANY party who actually put America first, the way Putin puts Russia first.
There is one person running for President who would put America first: Dr. Ron Paul
He really is America’s last hope.

If Ron doesn’t win and nobody should count on that, the Republic is over. Welcome NWO perpetual war and global empire.
I agree. As King Theoden remarked in Lord of the Rings, “how did we come to this…”
